Tom Russell, Mary Gauthier, Gretchen Peters

Roots on the Rails, North America's Moving Music Festival, combines long-distance train travel with on-board live performance by some of the top names in contemporary acoustic music. These Vancouver shows are the kickoff and wrap-up concerts of the 2005 trips across Canada. The Cowboy Train departs Vancouver for Toronto on March 20, and the Songwriter Train leaves Toronto on March 26, arriving in Vancouver on the morning of the 29th. Each journey is limited to seventy customers. For full details on the trips, visit

She has beaten back demons, lived off the streets, sunk to the bottom of life, turned 18 behind bars, emerged from darkness, and to completely confuse things won notice as a respected restaurateur — all before writing her first song.

Gretchen Peters has been hailed by many as one of Nashville’s best contemporary songwriters. Her intelligent and introspective songs have been covered by pop, country, blues and folk artists all over the world.
