Echoplant Recording Studios
For more 20 years, Ryan has been studiously, methodically, prodigiously, and obsessively honing his craft. In addition to his post-secondary classical music training, Ryan’s experience as a writing, recording, and touring member of several Northwest bands, affords him invaluable perspective and insight into every stage of the studio experience: from writing and arranging, to achieving the best instrumental tones and getting the best takes out of a performer. In 2015 he received a nomination for Producer of the Year and was named Engineer of the Year by the Western Canadian Music Awards. In addition to these accolades, Ryan’s experience writing for, producing, recording and performing with Universal Music Canada act Dear Rouge capitalized on all his assets and has solidified him as one of Vancouver’s top music producers. Being asked to mix Emilie & Ogden's debut album 10,000 as well crafting radio mixes for Basia Bulat and Young Galaxy have been highlights of the past year.
The Studios
The original studio, now named Studio A, was the unassuming birthplace of a movement - a place where bands discovered that you didn't need millions of dollars worth of gear to make a great-sounding album. The output of this humble studio rivaled that of the biggest studios in all of Metro Vancouver. It's true that a studio is only as good as the artists working in it. It's here where many of BC's most talented artists and hottest bands cut their teeth and found their sound. The studio was bursting at the seems with gear, musicians and potential. One serendipitous phone call from Jonathan Fluevog changed the game and a month later Ryan was setting up shop in the previously Christened Vogvile. In it's heyday Vogville, now Echoplant Studio B, saw the likes of Drake, K-os, Sarah Mclachlan and many more world-class artists walk through its doors. With a number of upgrades (redesign and an additional level) the space has been transformed further. Check out the video tour or slideshow to see for yourself. Team Echoplant
Echoplant's clientele, lovingly refered to as #TeamEchoplant, consists of an extremely talented group of self-driven artists who are award nominees (Junos, WCMA), finalists is various music competitions (Peak Performance Project, Searchlight, Seeds, etc.), and recipients of numerous grants (Factor, Telus, etc.). Collectively they have hundreds of songs placed in film and television and are charting and streaming worldwide.
