Vancouver's Whitfield are celebrating their brand new 2nd CD "Well Behaved & Working For You" with special guests Yoko Casionos, Elias & DJs P Fembot & Lektra and a BBQ at The Media Club on Friday, June 9th!
WHITFIELD have been generating extraordinary reviews and interest in the last few months, with the band recently receiving the "Best of The Fest" award at NewMusicWest 2006, the Peoples' Choice award at Toronto Indie Week, and "Best Alternative Group" at the Toronto Independent Music Awards. Their musical roots are entwined with the UK alternative rock culture and possess a charming quality that combines sparkling soundscapes with powerfully layered dynamics. Since moving to from Kamloops to Vancouver two years ago, Whitfield has exploded from modest beginnings into a national calibre act and scored high-profile opening spots like Athlete at the Commodore Ballroom. With haunting swells, high-pitched overtones, and lyrics of beauty and significance, Whitfield engulfs the listener, being heralded by The Kamloops Omega as "The Best Band You've Never Heard". http://www.whitfieldband.com
YOKO CASIONOS have been hooking the hearts of fans with their explosive melodies, adrenaline-fueled live show, and pure, bare-it-all honesty calling from a time when music was supposed to be one thing: exciting. They are a swirling ball of urgency, putting the 'harm' in 3-part harmony and the 'hit' back in sh*t-hot. Instruments and vocal duties are traded with wild abandon, the beats induce dancing and the songs will leave you singing. The Yokos fight the good fight to bring truth and integrity to commercially viable music. Have faith, it'll be okay. The Yoko Casionos are here! http://www.yokocasionos.com
ELIAS delivers a stellar mix of dark, moody vocal melodies, original guitar riffs and haunting keyboards, "making the kind of pulsating, loud rock that the Mars Volta or Radiohead might approve of in equal turns" according to Spin.com, who recently ranked them as one of 8 must-hear bands from Vancouver. http://www.eliasband.com
