About the Artists:
WIL

In order to put a name to my 5th studio album, I needed to find the right word or phrase that described my lifes journey since the days of playing covers. After all, this album is the sum of all parts since delving into music as my life purpose. Before that, I had been a very bad waiter and chalkboard artist but after a colossal break-in of our Vancouver apartment we moved back to Calgary where an impromptu performance at The Barley Mill lead to six year run in the mid-90s. I earned a reputation as that solo guy who breaks strings and packs bars but I realized that this was no way to make a career for myself. What it had done, however, was help me discover my voice and learn how to entertain a crowd. So in 2002 I wrote eight songs. Those precise eight songs became my first album Both Hands.

In 2004, I signed to EMI after they caught my Canadian Music Week showcase in Toronto. They re-released Both Hands, which I had already managed to sell 6000 copies of offstage. The album led to three Western Canadian Music Awards and put me in front of audiences all over Canada and into the US, touring with bands like Colin James, Xavier Rudd, The Tea Party and Matthew Good.

In 2007, just after the release of By December, EMI drastically downsized and I was dropped. Zero hard feelings either way. Instead, I spent the next few years learning how to become a better songwriter, releasing two additional independent albums and touring. Otherwise, nothing much was happening until 2011 when my song Roam was chosen to represent Travel Albertas ad campaign called Remember To Breathe. Doors began to open when the flagship video Remember to Breathe featuring Roam won the Diamond Award for Best Overall Entry at ITB Berlin (considered the OSCARS of the International Travel and Tourism Industry). The next year saw the video There Is win Gold. Meanwhile, I had penned an additional six songs for the campaign as well as other musical works like Ride, the official theme song for The Calgary Stampedes 100th anniversary.
In July of 2013, I felt the time had arrived to record and produce my own album. I enlisted the aide of studio engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and owner of Poplar Sound Studio, Jayme Langen. We recorded our first track Hold Me On in a three-day session ....(for more:http://www.ibreakstrings.com/)

OLD MARE

Coming Out of Abbotsford B.C., OLD MARE (which is made up of members Chris Janzen, Franklyn Currie, Eran Vooys , Mark Lainchbury, and Russ OShea) are proud to release their new E.P. YOU DESERVE MORE. The album is a collection of Alt country/ Alt rock songs in the style of Bruce Springsteen, The National, Nick Cave, and Ryan Adams. OLD MARE, like these artists, have a love for strong music and passion filled song writing. YOU DESERVE MORE is a collection of songs that highlight the bands well written music and lyrics. Recorded with producer/engineer Chris Michael who has worked with such artists as Alexi Murdoch, Hot Hot Heat, and the Canadian tenors, OLD MARE worked hard on recording the album. Over the last two years, recording the album at AI Studios and the legendary Mushrooms studios. OLD MARE are excited of what has come out of those sessions. YOU DESERVE MORE also features the bass playing of MMVA and Western canadian music award winner Stephen OShea of YOU SAY PARTY on Pistols at Dawn, Jealous Heart, and Cloak and Dagger.

Pistols At Dawn and Jealous Heart, the lead off singles, capture listeners through the story telling content and soaring melodies. Both songs deal with the subject of defending love at all cost. The songs are as much Alt country as they are Alt rock, and fit most formats. YOU DESERVE MORE has already gone to number 1 on CIVL RADIO the UNIVERSITY OF THE FRASER VALLEY college radio station and can be seen in the stations !earshot charts. http://www.earshot-online.com/charts/civl.cfm

OLD MARE will be supporting YOU DESERVE MORE through their energetic live shows, on upcoming dates and tours throughout British Columbia, and the rest of Canada through 2012. Beginning with a show at UFV on January 13,2012 and La Casa Coffee on January 27th. Said of Old Mare, His vocal is distinct and packed with forceful passion making the lyrics that he places on his lips even more arresting. To see him perform with the band made the songs sound complete and strong. All the guys worked really well together creating a sound that was raw and unique(www.cruelife.com)
