About
"Walking on Sunshine" Mosaic Steps
Ash Street at Victoria Ave White Rock BC
The Mosaic Steps offer a spot to relax while wandering around East Beach. They are also a highly decorative piece of public art.
You will notice that each step has been decorated using pieces of beautiful tile. Blue, yellow, purple and red designs cover each step up onto Ash Street above.
Many of the tiles are designed in sunshine patterns, which gives credit to the name of the steps "Walking on Sunshine". Along each side of the ornamental stairs are beautiful public gardens.
Tribute Footprints are also part of the Mosaic on the Ash staircase at Marine Drive and Ash Street in White Rock – East Beach. Created by the Semiahmoo Mosaic Workshop Society in partnership with the White Rock South Surrey Community Foundation, this mosaic includes bronze footprints that “walk” up and down the stairs.
Each Tribute Footprint message has a maximum of 35 characters including spaces. Your requested message is engraved onto a footprint that is placed in pairs and secured on the top of a stair. The bronze footprints will naturally age and change colour. If you’d like your footprint polished, you’re welcome to do so.
Funds raised from the sales of Tribute Footprints will help to build the Community Fund administered by the White Rock South Surrey Community Foundation, which provides grant funding to a broad network of local charities. We are proud to partner with the City of White Rock in this important community project.
