Grunge / Alternative Rock from Vancouver BC
Rampant Lion spent a week on Gabriola Island tracking their new record at The Noise Floor Studios with producer Jordan Koop (War Baby, Dead Soft, The Courtneys, Nu Sensae). It will be released Spring 2016.
Their sophomore EP "Mirror Distortion" (2014) was recorded in Seattle with legendary producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney). Tracked and mixed over 3 days, it features the dynamic energy of the band in its purest form with all the instruments recorded live off the floor.
Rampant Lion is a dynamic grunge-pop band from Vancouver. It started when 3 friends: Bob, Conor, and Todd played together with the aim to "jam" but quickly discovered a musical chemistry beyond the ordinary. They practiced in the attic of an old house nicknamed “The Rampant Lion” that was a gathering place for artists and musicians since the hippie days of late 1960's Kitsilano. Therefore, the band name came easy. The band recorded their debut EP "The Rampant Lion" at home with the help of Ian Huntley.
The band has played venues such as the Railway Club, Biltmore, Roxy, Media Club, Logan's, and The Red Room.
Influenced by bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Thin Lizzy, Weezer, Elvis Costello, and T-Rex, the band creates a sound that is familiar yet current, aggressive yet melodic, fun yet serious. This sound is the roar of RAMPANT LION.
