In 1716 a mysterious room built of entire amber was presented as a gift for Czar Peter The Great. Nazi’s seized the room in 1941. They stole the precious amber and packed it into crates, and to this day the amber’s wherabouts are unknown. Presently from the west The Amber Room resurfaced in a different form and for a different purpose. 2000, Shawn Tucker residing in London, England started the foundation of the band with a different edge in mind to the current mainstream music market. This edge was a British Alternative sound that still held it’s own sound away from the others. His influences being RADIOHEAD, U2, MUSE, PLACEBO and INTERPOL, with a dash of dark new wave. 2001, winter is when the band took form by recruiting member Shaun Savard as bassist while relocating to Vancouver, Canada. They discussed the future of what The Amber Room would and will become. The Immediate connection was made, recording demos, playing live, building it’s image, sound and following repertoire. 2002, Spring. Two engineers from the world famous “Warehouse Studios”, Kirk McNally and Bryan Gallant, caught tail end of this new up coming band and checked out their live performance. By the end of their set they worked out a deal to record the bands debut EP entitled “THE PRICE OF PEACE”. This five song EP was littered with hints that this was something atmospheric, original and uniquely edgy. It had solid reviews upon its release, one reviewer even praised the band as “FUTURE JUNO MATERIAL” and caught attention of Scratch Records for the bands first distribution deal. Hitting the market and airwaves around the Country, THE AMBER ROOM were starting to take shape selling many copy’s of the EP at Scratch Records as they continued on with their impressive live perfor- mances. This began to label the group as the best new and mysterious buzz band. 2003, Spring. Paul Anderson, born in Calgary Alberta, heard the band and immediately moved to become the second guitarist bringing in themes that even pushed his high standards of professional- ism. The chemistry was set when newest member Chris Warunki became the bands signature drum- mer. His style represented energy and a solid professional versatility that the music required. 2003 Discussions began with the ‘WAREHOUSE STUDIOS’ to record the first full-length album ‘WHAT WE SAW”. The nine song goldmine that included the tracks The Face, The Outsider and Floor Passengers pushed limits with the engineers and the band, taking 9 months to complete, and resulting in pure, sonic art. The album was recorded at the same time as REM, even sharing Kirk McNally who engineer- ed both simultaniously. “WHAT WE SAW’ delivered the energy and intensity towards the world you wake up to everyday with topics such as war, love, loss, corruption, religion, politics and indifference. This very album was named Local Album Of The Year in Vancouver’s Georgia Straight paper. It is also being sold in Vancouver at Scratch, Zulu and Virgin records. It is easy to say that THE AMBER ROOM are determined to succeed and steal attention away from the mediocre bands that leave the airwaves motionless and that THE AMBER ROOM will carry a positive momentum to the top of it’s predecessors pillars. With two albums released, a distribution deal and positive feedback at every turn these four lads are destined to be propelled into the highest standards in the industry. These achievements on their own speak levels. 2004 Currently, THE AMBER ROOM have relocated to Toronto Ontario, to test the waters in hopes of making huge waves. They are looking to form their team with labels and management companies in the music capital of Canada. If willing to take chances in an industry that is about taking chances, then this is a sure fire.
