Kurt Vile and The Soft Pack
Kule Vile Bio:Kurt Vile is a guitarist and singer from Philadelphia . He is the lead guitarist in the band The War on Drugs and also has a burgeoning solo career. He was signed on Matador Records in May 2009 as a solo artist.
His music has been likened to Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, and Tom Petty. His first album for Matador Records, is titled Childish Prodigy. In an interview with WWD (Women's Wear Daily), Sonic Youth singer Kim Gordon was asked, "Your guilty pleasure right now?" Gordon replied, "Listening to Kurt Vile's latest CD, 'Childish Prodigy.' Guilty because I listen to it too much..."
He released two previous solo albums, God Is Saying This To You and Constant Hitmaker, on Mexican Summer and Woodsist, respectively. He plays solo shows as well as shows with a backing band called The Violators
The Soft Pack Bio:
The band was originally named The Muslims, but changed the name due to "ignorant and racist" comments. Matt Lamkin has stated Soft Pack can describe the band as being well mannered or it can refer to a device that when worn is intended to convince others that the wearer has a penis. The band formed in San Diego but are now based in Los Angeles.
Having released records through labels such as 1928 Recordings, Sweet Tooth Records, Caspian Records and I Hate Rock n' Roll, the band is currently signed to Kemado Records.
The band recently signed a deal with Heavenly Recordings/Coopertive Music. The band released their debut full length album, The Soft Pack, on Kemado Records on February 26, 2010. It was produced by Eli Janney (musician) and recorded in Brooklyn, NY at Saltlands Studio.
