Jess Hill
There is a hopefull melancholy in Jess's music. Dreamy, dim lit moments anchored in the tendencies of folk, jazz and blues. These are stories; obscured, poetic and worn. Observations and new takes on the classic themes of love, life and death; where eerie streets at twilight, city scapes, long goodbyes and shadows are home to voices raised in song and sleeves adorned with hearts. Jess Hill is building something here and it is beautiful.
After picking up a beat up lil' guitar 7 years ago Jess Hill has preformed at many a house concert, cafe and pub. She's picked up a banjo, co-founded an instrumental indie-rock/art-folk unit known as Organ Trail, recorded a demo EP and competed as a finalist in the Vancouver Song Slam. Most recently she accompanied and collaborated with acclaimed spoken word trio TOFU (Tons of Fun University) at The Vancouver Folk Music Festival.
January 2006 will mark the release of her first full length album.
