Hosted by Shawn Smith and Chin Injeti (Blak Dog Promotions Inc.) with The Beat 94.5FM, Boot Camp 2005 will introduce aspiring singer songwriters, musicians and producers to a number of key players within the local, national, and international music scene. Whether you’re a songwriter, a recording engineer, or an up-and-coming producer, Boot Camp will provide you with the tools necessary to build and sustain a career in the music industry!
Panelists this year include Manuel Seal Jr. (Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige), whose outstanding song-writing and production on “My Boo” helped Usher grab his fourth No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100. Also on the producer panel is world-renowned top producer and engineer, Bob Power (Macy Gray, India Arie, The Roots). Boot Camp will also be welcoming notorious Canadian Idol Judge, Zack Werner to the managers panel.
Our keynote speaker for day one, Michael McCarty, has spent 18 years in the music publishing business and has been the President of EMI Music Publishing Canada since September 1992. Active in the areas of talent development and song plugging, he has worked with such artists and songwriters as Sum 41, Three Days Grace and Billy Talent.
Our keynote speaker for Day Two will be Terry McBride; one of the three founding owners of Canada's Largest Independent Record Label, Nettwerk Productions. Exclusive clients include such multi-million selling artists as, Avril Lavigne, Barenaked Ladies, Dido, Sarah McLachlan and Sum 41.
Also joining the guest panelists is Chris Nelson, MuchMusic’s top VJ and host for the weekly TV show “Going Coastal”. Along with these world class music industry movers and shakers, Boot Camp will also host A&R, radio and publishing panels manned by top label executives from BMG, EMI, Sony and Columbia Records.
Boot Camp will also include live performances and interactive sessions with established artists including Esthero and multi-platinum selling, critically acclaimed MC, Moka Only.
