Golers third album is made up of 13 blistering tracks of ripping thrash, and an album cover that is all pig fuckin’ and man parts handling. I’d expect no less from the Golers. Backwoods Messages opens strong with ‘Essential Burst’ and you better be buckled in, because it’s going to be a crazy ride. The appropriately titled ‘Grindstoned Cowboys’ was some crazy grind, possibly a bit scary to an old school Golers fan like myself who is not used to hearing this many blast beats from the clan of inbreds. From there they went back to fast as shit, rocking hard and shredding mean solos. ‘Acting on Impulse’ opened up with some tobacco chewin’ hick saying, “hey a couple of us guys were wonderin’ uh, we go family style on her?” And from there it went on to be one of the standout tracks on the album featuring a huge solo that nearly touched cheese. Throw in a box of wine and you’re fine dining. This is definitely music worthy of dining down at the sty. Just watch your ass when you bend over to eat your slop, aim for the spittoon can and start running when you hear the banjo. - Sun, 6 Sep 2009 11:39am

I was pleasantly surprised when I caught these guys at Logans a couple months back. Hope they make their way back to Victoria soon. - Mon, 14 Sep 2009 11:28am

I've been meaning to write something about the Commodore show - they totally rose to the occasion and got a HUGE response at the end with a good chunk of people stomping for more. I didn't even recognize most of the crowd, so I'm sure a lot of them had to have been new fans.
I'm hoping its on tape somewhere, cuz I missed some waiting in the will call lineup. :(
I was so happy that night, they just took over!

* hey krieg when's the last time you saw them? I'm curious because I've always liked them but its only been in the last few months I've been genuinely blown away. To a lot of people I know they've always been their favorite band, but I haven't been seeing them since the beginning. - Mon, 14 Sep 2009 1:04pm Edited: Mon, 14 Sep 2009 1:09pm
