We’re looking for musicians for an alternative musical theatre show. There are a total of 11 songs we are covering and looking for a lead/rhythm guitarist, electric bass, drums, and horns (trumpet, trombone, and saxophone). We’re looking for musicians that have performed on stage before and you should be comfortable reading music. You’ll be playing from charts and working with a musical director, just like in a pro show band.

Some bands we’re considering covering this show are Jay-Z, Florence and the Machine, Katy Perry, Neil Diamond, Bruno Mars, Black Eyed Peas, Foster the People and Violent Femmes.

The show itself is written like a satire and pokes fun at everything pop culture and Vancouver. The show is designed to be interactive with the audience - we encourage them to sing along to the songs. It’s about creating a cool theatre experience for people in their twenties and early thirties. The show takes place at a bar so you must be 19+.

Show Details: September 29-30, October 13-14
Location: Anza Club
Compensation: There will be a profit share with the actors, crew and band. It’s not going to pay your rent so it will be more about the experience. Rehearsals will start in August.

If you’re interested please send an email to [email protected] . Auditions will be Wednesday July 13th in the evening. We’ll have a mini jam space set up so that you can meet with the band director and producer to see if there is a fit. You should come with 1-2 songs prepared and be ready to read some charts. Guitarists will be reading chord symbols (i.e. Gma7, not tab or treble clef notes). Bass players should be able to read either bass clef or chord symbols. Please reply by Monday July 11th at the latest.

We understand the concept is a little different so please feel free to send us an email with any questions or visit http://www.rockcomedyexperience.com to learn more.

Cheers,
