About

Greg Drummond Band

since circa 2011
If you haven’t heard him already, it’s about time you prepared for the rhythms of this particular west coast artist. Already his distinguishable voice has begun carving a path, bringing him and those who follow ever closer to national recognition. In combining unique storytelling and original sound, the music is both captivating and easy to fall right into. Whether in front of a crowd or in the studio, Drummond promises to create music of sincerity as he evolves artistically and independently.

Drummond’s debut album, Walking Man, was released in late 2011. The songwriting reflects upon the transition from one lifestyle to another; breaking routine and security for personal fulfillment. By no means an easy change, Drummond put every dollar and dime into making this memorable piece of art. Along with the help of friends, Greg took the initiative to record, edit, and mix the entire album. Upon completing months of hard work it was finally time to bring it to life. Unable to fund a publicist, Greg released the album independently and set forth on a BC / Alberta winter tour to make his presence known.

Over a year and a half later, Drummond has taken on every opportunity to come his way. Feeling the limitations of a solo artist, however, he pushed forward to create a bigger, better sound. Greg pursued that intention, and now stands with a core group of four other band members comprised of Michael Lothian, Alanna Pearce, Mike Meroniuk, and Marshall Hunt. Together, they have conquered a variety of concert halls from private shows to the infamous Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC.

In addition to their unique live performance, the title track from Walking Man has garnered its own attention. Following an impromptu submission to 104.3 The Shore FM’s BEST of BC Contest, Greg and his band yielded the top prize of $10,000 and solid radio play. Within the next couple months, the same song landed a spot on multiple shortlists, including the nationally recognized CBC Searchlight Contest. Naturally, this warranted more radio time — and in-between then and now — the band has received a good boost of regional and Canada-wide notoriety.

“It’s hard to believe how much has happened in the last year,” says Greg, “I’ve surrounded myself with great people and it seems to have brought nothing but great things.”

Looking to the horizon, Drummond anticipates even more positive opportunities with an equal amount of dedication. From this he hopes to bring the band and himself closer to the conventional artist’s dream: living a life fully dedicated to creativity and working sincerely from the heart.
