Sun. September 24th 2006 Hungarian Cultural Centre (All Ages)
The DUVO Folk Music Band is one of Hungary's most exciting folk music Ensembles presenting authentic folk music from the Carpathian Basin. The Band's members reside in Salgotarjn, Northern Hungary. The members of DUVO have dedicated their lives to the study of Hungarian folk music from the great masters of remote villages where the authentic forms of folk music can still be heard. Their dedication to preserve folk music is matched by their enthusiasm to present it. Recognized for their outstanding musicianship and enchanting interpretations of traditional eastern European folk music, DUVO have steadily become a driving force in Hungarys folk revival movement. DUVO playing may be characterized by wild improvisations, commendable musicianship and a charismatic style.

DUVO is composed of master players Dnes Hruz (fiddle, hit-cello), Szabolcs Hruz (fiddle, viola, lute), Ferenc Andrassy (cimbalom, hurdy-gurdy, drum), Gergely Toth (viola) and Jozsef Terek (double-bass, sax, clarinet).

After the concert, DUVO and local Hungarian folk dancers Lajos & Andrea Miklos will lead audience members in a traditional TANCHAZ (Hungarian folk dance party with teaching circles - beginners to advanced all welcome).
