The self-proclaimed “biggest midget in the game,” Lady Sovereign oversees hyper, big-bottomed beats and dancehall and drum-and-bass rhythms with her clever, barb-infested flow. A leader in the U.K. grime scene, the pint-sized 20-year-old Londoner is poised to conquer the U.S. with her long-hyped debut and tracks like “Love Me or Hate Me”, an 808-fueled electro pop-n-lock beat that is currently being used in a Verizon Wireless campaign. She has already appeared on the cover of Urb, The Fader, and I-D magazines, and Def Jam head Jay-Z was so impressed by her audition that he signed her to the label, calling her “A pure entertainer.” Public Warning, her North American debut, is scheduled for an October release, along with a headlining tour in support of the disc.
