Dallas Green has dual citizenship in two very different worlds. As singer and guitarist in St. Catherine's band Alexisonfire, he’s partly responsible for larynx-shredding screams and metallic riffs set to hardcore tempos. But, as City and Colour, Dallas indulges in a more thoughtful and introspective side that will come as a surprise to many of those familiar with his main project. On songs like the gently admonishing “Save Your Scissors” and the string-backed drama of “Casey’s Song,” Green exhibits the kind of graceful melodicism and lyrical tenderness that recalls Jeff Buckley (an admitted influence).

Dallas has been performing his non-Alexis-style songs for some time, but it wasn’t until last year that he saw fit to release both an EP (The Death of Me) and full-length album (Sometimes). Those releases, as well as a number of solo gigs in and around the Toronto area, have helped pave the way for a cross-Canada City and Colour tour that promises to surprise and please Alexisonfire fans and win over anyone who admires genuine, honest songwriting.
