Event Archive - F-HOLES CD release party!: The F-Holes, Roll Away, The Burnettes

Thu. September 8th 2011 Railway Club (No Minors)
$8 at the door only.
Don't let their tongue-in-cheek name fool you, rather let their raucous live performance be a testament to their unique blend of country, dixieland, and Manitoba roots music. Since forming in Winnipeg in 2004, The F-Holes have shared the stage with the likes of Gord Downie, Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Fred Eaglesmith, and Elliot Brood. Their unmistakable vintage inspired sound and zeal for live performance has garnered them acclaim from an array of critics and audiences alike.
"...impeccably authentic, raucously entertaining blend of gypsy jazz, zippy dixieland, viper blues and roots."
- Darryl Sterdan, Sun Media
"...blend swing, blues, country, bluegrass and jazz, creating a fiery concoction that will surely knock
you on your feet."
- Jared Story, Uptown Magazine
Described by Vancouver's own Discorder as "dirty-southern-gothic-rock-country-folk," up-and-comers Rollaway stylistically line up with classic acts such as The Band, The Allman Brothers, and The Grateful Dead, as well as recent ones such as My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes, and Neko Case. Rollaway is nonetheless forging an independent name for itself in the genre due to the "poetry and complexity of Roark's lyrics" (Maverick Magazine) and "topnotch ensemble playing" (The Georgia Straight).
