Sunday, July 24th:
Violent Vickie, Ca$hcat, Loose Tights, Mansion Music
An evening of "unladylike-eccentricity," featuring fematron rock ANTI-POP bands from all over the west coast!
VIOLENT VICKIE is a two piece multi-media electro-punk band from San Francisco, CA. Inspired by female electronic bands like Le Tigre, Tracy and the Plastics, Miss Kittin, Adult., and Chicks on Speed. Her lyrics often question society, addressing female stereotypes, TV, addiction, and religion.
CA$HCAT is a BC-based freaktronic hip-hop duo started collaborating in 2010 when the homogeneity of pop music hit them over the head. This makes sense- they make anything but normal music; groaning synth, eerie chant, and laid-back drum beats.
LOOSE TIGHTS is a newly formed 4 piece out of Vancouver, BC. They are inspired by locals SO YOU THINK YOU CAN SLEEP. They are a feminist surfish/ fast pop band with cooperative triple guitar/bass melodies spread over accentuated drum hitting. They derive from such local projects as Bad Fate, Unreliable Narrator, I make earthquakes, GReenbelt, KAtie and the lichen, So you think you can sleep to name a few.
MANSION MUSIC is duo Anita Sparrow and Katie Caron. This project was manifested in the Mansion, but is not limited to that location! Mansion Music incorporates sweet and sometimes complicated ukulele breakdowns to simple and uncompromised beats made by Katie. This project is endearing and unmissable. So don't miss it. If you miss it, you will be missing out.
Doors: 7:30 pm, show 8:30 pm. Cover: $10
