Wed. January 26th 2011 Railway Club (No Minors)
$8 at the door only.
Presented by: Vancouver City Limits
Late show: Vancouver City Limits
Billing themselves as the long lost heirs of the Shinola Shoe Polish dynasty, The Shinolas music has an eclectic "good-time" feel that combines elements of Texas Swing, Rootsy-Blues, Gospel, Folk, Cajun, R&B, Vintage Jazz, Bluegrass and Old-time Country. With catchy original songs and unique remakes of obscure gems, the groups style and instrumentation is first rate and their stage performance abundantly fun.

Local chanteuse Karen Larson along with pianist Pat Coventon present beautifully crafted country-tinged songs reminiscent of Shawn Colvin and Emmylou Harris with crisp, uncluttered production and deeply personal lyrics. Mercifully free of annoying samples, ersatz twang and the Nashville Sound. Authentic Canadiana played on instruments of wood and steel.

Lindsay Mae:
Born and raised in Kelowna BC, Lindsay May knew from a young age that she wanted to make music with her life, and found a that she had a knack for turning heartache into therapeutic verse and melodies that hang on long after the fire dies down. After an encouraging opening set for international folk singer James Keelaghan and a spot in Kelownas Woodstock Festival, she made the move out to Vancouver in 2004 to go head to head with some of the provinces best singer/songwriters. With a seemingly endless supply of energy and passion she performs regularly at festivals , house concerts and various venues around British Columbia as well as showcasing at the citys best nightclubs.
