Presented by: Jeff Younger
Tuesday, June 15th: Jeff Younger Presents Vol 37:
When Leah Abramson is not touring or singing on records, she is writing folk noir songs in East Vancouver, baking cookies and trying not to be a hermit..

Tanya Davis is a poet. She is a storyteller. She is a musician and a singer-songwriter and she fuses these elements together in a refreshing matrimony of language and sound, side-stepping genre and captivating audiences in the process. She has shared stages with the likes of Buck 65, Jenn Grant, Catherine MacLellan, and Old Man Luedecke. Shortly after the release of her sophomore record Gorgeous Morning, she was invited to perform for a live taping of The Vinyl Cafe with Stuart MacLean and has since had her songs featured numerous times on Vinyl Cafe as well as other National CBC shows. Respected also for her work as a poet, she is a frequent collaborator with artistic peers - on recordings or for live shows - and has had poems commissioned by both artists and organizations. 2009 saw the release of Tanya's first videopoem, a collaboration with celebrated independent filmmaker Andrea Dorfman. The short, entitled How to be Alone, was funded by Bravo and has aired at numerous film festivals, including the Worldwide Short Film Festival, Vancouver Film Fest, and St. John's International Women's Film Festival.

Coming off a year-long hiatus, the Jen Lewin band is new, improved, and ready to make love to your eardrums. Expect some pop, jazz, and neo-soul flavours with some rawk thrown in for good measure.

Doors: 8:30 pm. $8/$6
