Original Soundtrack is a live performance of 20 television sets and DVD players. On each DVD player is a different, commercially available movie left at its "menu" stage. The DVDs all feature endlessly looping musical cues.

Performed using a customized mixer, loops are combined and stacked, resulting in a slightly unstable but scored 60-minute performance that moves from psyched out strings to fake krautrock to abstract hip hop.

Featuring selections from: Carter Burwell, Jerry Goldsmith, Bernard Hermann, David Holmes, Goblin, Cliff Martinez, Ennio Morricone, Giorgio Moroder, Walter Murch, Popol Vuh, Howard Shore and others.

MP3s and youtube clips of the first performance are here:

Brian Joseph Davis is a sound artist and writer based in Toronto. LA Weekly recently wrote, “Davis has an amazing head for aural experiments—creating expansive compositions out of found sounds and computer manipulations—that are smart on paper and fascinating in execution.” Davis has written for Arthur Magazine, Utne, and is the author of Portable Altamont (Coach House, 2005) and I,Tania (ECW 2008) which called, “The book of your fever dreams.”

Original Soundtrack appears as part of the exhibition The Sound I'm Looking For
