It won’t come as any surprise to anyone who saw Wolfmother last year that the Australian trio has won the USC Best Live Award for 2006. The group’s dynamic and seriously fun take on ’70s heavy metal endeared it to classic rockers and hipsters alike, as well as just about anyone who came within earshot of the trio’s meticulous crafting of heavy stoner anthems. Likewise, the band’s debut made the cut for Best Albums lists in Spin, NME, and Rolling Stone for 2006—#s 39, 47, and 15, respectively. The track “Dimension” also got the nod as #9 in Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Best Songs for 2006, and the thunder from Down Under was named one of 2006’s best new artists on On top of all that, the Wolfmother track “Woman” is nominated for a Grammy in the Best Hard Rock Performance category.

Not ready to end their world-beating roll, Wolfmother stokes the fire once more. With each show leaving stunned concert-goers in its wake, the band has had no choice but to feed the beast with a new set of North American tour dates.
