. Friday, November 24th IMU & CiTR present Social Disease, Glim Project, Flood of Fire & Like A Storm @ The BACKSTAGE LOUNGE on Granville Island (1585 Johnston St.) . 9pm / $10

SOCIAL DISEASE - This recently formed group of very talented musicians has already released a 6 song EP while quickly becoming weekend favorites among Vancouver's hard rock community. With influences including Megadeth, Metallica, G'n'R and Judas Priest, this heavy metal juggernaut is loaded with tons of potential!

The GLIM PROJECT is a full out rock band; a unique, hyper-energetic mish mash that cannot easily fit into one category in today's rock scene. Too progressive to get radio play, not progressive enough to be considered prog rock; too loud and aggressive for the hipsters, but not enough for extreme metal heads. Furious guitars loop around heavy percussive drumming, while galloping bass riffs cut right down the middle. Visually, it's quite a feast, as the band pours out every bit of energy they have in bringing their creations to life.

FLOOD OF FIRE - One of Vancouvers hottest emerging bands, Flood of Fire's unique blend of metal & rock has fans headbanging, foot stomping and air-guitaring their asses off during powerful live performances that explode with energy. Having recorded a six song self-titled EP in October 2005, the band is continuously evolving their sound, amassing plenty of great original material while staying true to the music they believe in. Keep your ears to your speakers and experience Flood of Fire's amazing musical energy!

LIKE A STORM are an explosive, progressive, melodic rock band that hail from Auckland, where they developed a great following, selling out shows, supporting high-profile acts on nationwide tours, winning national competitions and becoming the first unsigned band to be voted No. 1 single on New Zealand's biggest rock radio station. Their hunger to reach a wider audience drove them to make the pilgrimage to the continent of Rock 'n' Roll. Currently based in Vancouver, Like A Storm has a depth of sound rarely seen in modern rock, drawing inspiration from Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle, the raw energy of Nirvana and Guns n Roses, and the tuneful melodies of the Beatles and Green Day.
