SHIFTKIT was Formed in 2000 out of Langley B.C. and gelled instantly, All Four members knew exactly where they were heading and Shiftkit felt instant gratification. Within the first year of forming Shiftkit, the release of "Sonic Riot," a ten song, fully original cd was born and from that came two songs featured on EA Sports video games. Shiftkit's second album "The Madness," containing the hugely successful first single "Stronger" was released in April of 2003. Stronger went on to become one of the most requested songs at 99.3 The Fox.
.....SHIFTKIT was one of the winners of The Vancouver Seeds contest in 2003. What is Vancouver Seeds you ask? Vancouver Seeds is an annual contest put on by Vancouver's powerhouse rock radio station 99.3 The Fox. It asks for independent rock bands to enter a three song demo and short bio into the station. Each year over 500 bands enter in hopes to win the coveted prize as a Seeds winner. The winner gets heavy radio airplay, high quality showcases and meetings with A&R reps from several big record labels and a chance to show their stuff. The Seeds contest has been the most sought after contest for independent bands because of its extremely high track record for discovering "The Next Big Band." Past Winners include as far back as Brian Adams and as recent as Nickelback, Default and Shocore. Now Shiftkit has been added to the list of great Vancouver Seeds winners.
.....SHIFTKIT has played numerous shows from Whistler to Chilliwack and plan on expanding their live show even farther this spring and summer. The band has developed a large and very dedicated following. Some shows worth mentioning include opening for PROJECTWYZE, opening for Theory of a Deadman, and Two New Music West showcases. The band has played on Vancouvers "Morning Tv" television show and also played The Sean Kennedy show(An internet based variety show). The SHIFTKIT.com website has had increased visits everyday and is now beginning to sell cds and other merch consistently.
.....Front man Leon Lilley lays the path with his intense style of vocals and guitar hooks that would lure the biggest of fish. John Wilson and Mike Dixon's rock solid rythmn lays down the groove. Jesse Martens lead guitar work is the icing on the cake. Shiftkit has a flavour that has not yet been tasted. SHIFTKIT's diverse musical background and commitment to excellent songwriting has been the perfect equation for success.
