Making no admissions about their romantic pasts, the members of new Vancouver pop outfit Lengthy List of Lovers have indeed been around the block - the musical block, that is, having most recently played together in noteworthy prog-space-rock anomaly Vonnegut Dollhouse. After debatable success, two studio records and a short tour Vonnegut Dollhouse ended in late 2008, leaving 2/3 of the songwriting machine - Alyson Fun and Dan “Electro” Brard to their own devices. It was only a matter of retooling their format - with Fun now full time on synth and Brard back on guitar - and purchasing a drum machine to get things rolling. Creativity runs wild in their East-Van rehearsal facility and the pair is looking forward to debuting their songs with a self-released EP in Spring 2009.
Named after an obscure Beach Boys lyric, Lengthy List of Lovers do not have as esoteric a sound as the name's origins may indicate - touting catchy and inventive arrangements, trundling guitar compositions, eerie vocals and retro beats set atop peppy synth basslines. The band administers a cross-pollination of new-wave with am-gold and Western Canadian guitar rock, Lengthy List of Lovers will appeal to fans of golden-age-era Beach Boys, The Talking Heads, Spookey Ruben, The Buttless Chaps and Blondie to name only a few on a lengthy list.
