Jacqueline Ko

With performances hailed as "powerful" (Hello Vancity), "moving" (The Voice) and "passionate and passionately sung" (Review Vancouver), multi-award-winning soprano Jacqueline Ko is also an accomplished producer whose shows have been described as "a stroke of genius" (The Langara Voice). As the co-founder of Opera Mariposa, she has been praised for her "definite aptitude" as an artistic director (Opera Canada). She is a firm believer in the power of music, and since 2009, her benefit shows have raised over $38,000 for charity.

Jacqueline Ko is a versatile artist who has performed in opera, theatre, musical theatre and film. Her performances have been described as "an extraordinary feat" (North Shore News), with critics proclaiming, "It is truly amazing to see Jacqueline knock it out of the park" (Hello Vancity). "Ko knows exactly what to do with an absolutely gorgeous voice, and her acting…can send chills up the spine," Review Vancouver wrote about a recent concert appearance. She recently performed the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, where critics deemed her “flawless” (Review Vancouver). Other recent role highlights include Sharon (Master Class), the Witch (Hansel and Gretel), Norina (Don Pasquale), Madame Herz (The Impresario), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Queen of the Night cover (The Magic Flute), and Olympia (ESUM, in her Vancouver Fringe Festival debut).

Jacqueline has won the Maggie Chambers Scholarship and the Most Outstanding Talent Award from Richmond Music Festival. She has performed in original casts and Canadian premiere productions, sung at the Orpheum Theatre under the baton of Bramwell Tovey, worked with internationally famous teachers and coaches, and starred in the 2007 short film My Lagan Love.
