Label: series two
acoustic/indie from Vancouver BC
Hussain Ravinggvee is a musician who gathers inspiration by listening to albums for months on end and studying every detail of the music to further his own work.
His influences are apparent, drawing from brilliant artists such as The Smiths, Kings Of Convenience, Wilco, and the late Elliott Smith. He writes thoughtful tunes with great lyrics and skillful layered guitars, much like Elliott Smith's first album, Roman Candle. His voice is youthful and emotive, sometimes going beyond his range trying to convey the very importance of what he has to say.
A true DIY artist, he's recorded all his demos with a "dinky sony mic" and his home computer. He plays all his own instruments, including drums and organ on his first release from Series Two records.
Hussain started recording and sending his demos to close friends back in 2004, and at their insistence, put his music online. From there he received offers from different bands to play at venues all across Canada. On tape and on stage he plays solo, occasionally backed up by another Vancouver band, Yukon.
