Intricate and complex, but never at the expense of passion and melody, the inspiring, foreboding epic demonstrated a lyrical depth and musical ability that placed the band at the forefront of similar-minded acts such as the Mars Volta. With a singer, Claudio Sanchez, whose vocal shredding ability rivals Geddy Lee's, and a powerhouse band of guitarist Travis Stever, bassist Michael Todd and drummer Josh Eppard, Coheed and Cambria have a sound that echoes, at least in feel, classic rock bands of yore like Led Zeppelin, Rush and Soundgarden. Thanks to Warped Tour appearances the band's profile had increased to the point where appetites were whetted by that release, and the follow-up headlining tours sold out theatres here and abroad. With its fourth album, Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV: Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness, about to hit the streets, Coheed and Cambria is embarking on another tour. The first video single from the disc, "Welcome Home," is already causing waves on Fuse TV and MTVU and is a harbinger of the awesome and thought-provoking sounds to come.
