One of the worst labels in (marginally)underground music. - Fri, 2 Sep 2005 11:45pm

For once I agree with you Mordock. Victory has put out some good albums in the past, but has seriously gone downhill steadily in the past 7 years or so.
I think they are like a sub company of Sony or some other major now anyways.
Comback kid were never good, ESPECIALLY (and because of) when they were on Face Down promoting bullshit christian ideals by supporting that label.
But Strife, Integrity and a ton of other bands which relesed stuff on Victory in the 90's are awesome. - Fri, 9 Sep 2005 11:46am

I have a Strife album....it has some humour value(like when they stop a song to yell out STRAIGHT EDGE and such)...and I used to like the song Blistered alot when I was younger...but other than that I'm not so into them......I do think it's totally hilariously awesome that though they are all potheads now they do play the show occasionally and do all the same old sXe songs.....at least they don't take themselves overly seriously anymore it seems.
I don't really remember having previous disagreements with you though. - Fri, 9 Sep 2005 9:22pm

Jay I can see why you may have strong views against facedown. I'm assuming you're talking about figure four, although maybe there are other similar overly christian bands I haven't discovered on the label.

Lyrics like...
"The one God
I won't deny
Don't be fooled by their works
Walk in the path of light "

Yeah, they get a little Jesus-y. And that's not something I'm into. Maybe Comeback Kid is comprised of christians, maybe they have members of figure four, maybe they're in a label that promoted a band with those lyrics. The album Turn It Around, being the release on facedown, isn't Christian at all though. Just about getting on your feet again. A universal message with no connection to anything about mythical bullshit. Is it fair to judge a band based on the label it's on? I know that labels tend to generally have a similar trend in the bands they choose. And I suspect a large portion of your dislike towards Comeback Kid is beyond the record label.

I personally enjoyed Comeback Kid's facedown release, and didn't like their Victory release (which was definetely more smattered with pop hooks and such singing). - Wed, 14 Sep 2005 12:11am

Actually, face down is a christian label. All the bands of Face down are christian bands, regardless of wether they sing about christianity or not, being on that label is promoting christianity. A lot of bands with christian members do not sing about christianity, and I am totally fine with that, as long as they are not promoting christianity (or any other religion for that matter) through their music/shows/band I am fine with them. My problem with comeback kid is that they were on face down, a label that promotes christianity, and in doing so promotes the anti choice movement and the anti homosexuality movement. Regardless of wether or not those bands support those causes or not, they are still promoting a package which includes those ideals.
I wouldn't support a band which was on a racist label, because even if they are not a racist band, they are promoting other racist bands by supporting that label. And for the same reason I won't support bands that are on a label promoting an anti choice/anti homosexuality viewpoint. - Wed, 14 Sep 2005 2:34pm
