I never got into them the First time around they where just so Goofy, but with this release they are alot more serious sounding... The concept is to record old songs voted by their fans in two days in the studio...Pretty good sounding album - Thu, 18 Nov 2004 11:59am

Anthrax were very important to me during my "impressionable" years and I'm pretty sure that I still have all of their cd's...somewhere. However, I really didn't like much of what they have been releasing lately. That said, I always thought John Bush (their current singer) was more ballsy and interesting than Joey Belladonna (their former). So along comes TGOTE and I get to hear the new interpretations of the old "Joey" tunes and I have to say it is their best release in YEARS! It's funny- I probably wouldn't listen to many of the songs on thier 1st 3 albums today, except for the classics, and guess what? Most of them are here in a (slightly) new form.
I guess it is all personal opinion but I really like TGOTE. This combines the best of the old with the new and kicks some ass in the process. If I have to criticize, I'd say that the tunes from "Among the Living" are the least successful because it is Anthrax's best album and maybe they didn't really need re-working. Also, I would've picked a different tune than "Be All End All" from "State of Euphoria". If you've never heard Anthrax before, this is a good place to start. If you want to hear the best of Anthrax w/ John Bush- check out "Stomp 442" or "The Sound of White Noise". If you want to see why Anthrax is still around after more than 20 years, get a copy of "Among the Living". - Tue, 23 Nov 2004 5:18pm
