Amy Steggles
Amy Steggles first began singing for herself while tap dancing down the aisles of the grocery store. While her future as Fred Astaire has not panned out, she is exceedingly grateful to have discovered the wonderful world of opera, art song and oratorio. Described as having stylistic sophistication, wonderful dramatic interpretation and stunning tone, Amy is a soprano to watch. She was a semi-finalist in the International Rolando Nicolosi competition in Rome, as well as a national finalist for the Canadian Music Competition. Seen often as the quintessential ingenue, she has sung Susanna from the Nozze di Figaro, Elsie from Yeomen of the Guard and Rose from Ruddigore. Amy has performed with Opera Kitchener, Tryptych, Brampton Lyric Opera, The Brantford Symphony Orchestra, and the Guelph Symphony Orchestra. She has also taken part in such prestigious programs as Opera Nuova, The Orford Summer Music Academy, The Vancouver International Song Institute and the Halifax Summer Opera Workshop. Her ambition is to share the magic of the music, and the story behind it, with as many people as possible!
