Surrey Children's Choir
The award-winning Surrey Children's Choir was founded in September 1992 by director, Stephen Horning and 35 choristers. The Surrey Children’s Choir is a special project of the Surrey Choral Arts Project Society, which is a non-profit, registered charity.
Our singers, aged 6-70, are grouped into the Junior and Intermediate Training Choirs (each rehearsing in both North and South Surrey), the Surrey Children’s Choir, the Surrey Youth ‘Chamber Choir’, the Surrey Youth Chorus and the Surrey Community Chorus adult choir. In 2002 the Surrey Youth ‘Chamber Choir’ was created, bringing the SCC family to a total of 150 or so singers in 6 levels.
The Surrey Children’s Choir, Surrey Youth Chamber Choir and Surrey Youth Chorus perform at an advanced level of difficulty. Their wide and varied repertoire includes sacred, secular, folk, classical, musical theatre, and requiem mass, both accompanied and a cappella, of composers such as Rutter, Vivaldi, Fauré, Holst, Bernstein, Poulenc, Eleanor Daley, Brahms, Mozart, and more. They pride themselves in having a strong Canadian repertoire.
