Possibly the crowning achievement of silent cinema, Fritz Lang's blockbuster fuses the frenetic storytelling of twenties pulp fiction with Lang's personal fascination with the dark side of human nature. Lang's dystopian vision of the future pits science against religion, love against death and revenge against redemption.

Featuring live accompaniment by the Silent Summer Nights Monster Orchestra, with as many as 40 members of Vancouver's world-class improvised music scene conducted by Giorgio Magnanensi, Coat Cooke, and Stefan Smulovitz.

Giorgio Magnanensi (electronics, sampling and creative improvisation)

A composer and conductor devoted to contemporary music. He teaches at the Conservatory of Music in Parma and at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. He is a member of Gruppo di Ricerca per la Musica Contemporanea (Research Group for Contemporary Music) at the University of Bologna.
