Be sure to come out and hear songs from the newest Mecca Normal CD as they hit Vancouver's Lamplighter stage fresh from their U.S. tour!

MECCA NORMAL -is an underground rock duo with a 20-year history of combining dynamic music with powerful lyrics that deal with social concerns, "arguably the greatest rock band without a rhythm section ever... the duo of acid-voiced singer Jean Smith and guitar hero David Lester must be seen to be believed." With their new Kill Rock Stars CD "The Observer", Mecca Normal delivers their most passionate and nuanced album to date. Featuring enhanced instrumentation, beautiful vocals, and a compelling thematic link, The Observer represents Jean Smith and David Lester at the height of their creative collaboration.

YOKO CASIONOS have been hooking the hearts of fans with their explosive melodies, adrenaline-fueled live show, and pure, bare-it-all honesty calling from a time when music was supposed to be one thing: exciting. They are a swirling ball of urgency, putting the 'harm' in 3-part harmony and the 'hit' back in sh*t-hot. Instruments and vocal duties are traded with wild abandon, the beats induce dancing and the songs will leave you singing. The Yokos fight the good fight to bring truth and integrity to commercially viable music. Have faith, it'll be okay. The Yoko Casionos are here!

THE FEMINISTS - An energetic, engaging combination of angelic vocals along with jangle-punk guitar and driving, emotive keyboards, The Feminists bring together a powerful combination of unpredictable, loud, and exciting sound. Jet engine chaos is instantly replaced by fragile, delicate beauty before leaping back to frenzied distortion: power-pop meets art-rock meets psychedelia meets emo-core. One of Vancouver's hardest working indie bands, The Feminists have charted on college stations from Nanaimo to Halifax, earning kudos as one of the Georgia Straight's Best Local Albums of 2005. The band has toured across Canada without an agent, manager, publicist, or record label support, opening for bands like The Weakerthans and NoMeansNo. The Feminists' ambitious plan is to record and release a fourth full-length album this year, complete a third national tour, release a video or two, and play a couple hundred shows!

The NEINS CIRCA formed in 2002 as the Neins, quickly becoming a live staple in the Vancouver scene and touring with New Pornographer AC Newman. Singer Cameron Dilworth spins tales about escaping the city, the much-overlooked importance of friendship, and the power of music.
