NOTES - Hailing from Tucson, Arizona, NOTES blend original ambient electronica with live organic instrumentation. They will be performing songs from their new CD "The Impossible Voyage" to a video projection of the 1904 Méliès silent film, which made groundbreaking use of models and trick photography to tell the fantastical tale of a passenger train voyage to the sun and under the sea. http://www.myspace.com/hiwerenotes

HINTERLAND has been carving their own niche in the musical landscape with heavenly vocals and cascading walls of star-gazing guitar rock. Be sure to catch the band as they play songs from their new CD release, "The Picture Plane", produced by Caleb Stull (Parlour Steps). Building on the evocative sound they established on their widely acclaimed atmospheric debut "Under the Waterline", the heavy bits are punchier, the hooks are sharper, and the ambient passages are dreamier. http://www.hinterland.bc.ca

WINDOWS '78 - Recently described as "Somewhere between Spiritualized and Pink Floyd" by The Vancouver Province and as "A new successor to the mantle of melancholy modern rock" (Prairie Dog), Windows '78 dynamically explore a unique fusion of moody, guitar-driven rock and ambient electronica, delivering an innovative sound that appeals equally to humans, Martians and robots. Their recent debut CD "The Window Seat" showcases the premier space rock act as they craft a rich, evocative sound that weaves together melodic guitar lines, subtly deployed electronic loops and masterful playing. http://www.windows78.com

NORTH - Touring in support of their new release "Siberia", ambient indie rockers North bring their textured soundscapes to Vancouver by way of Arizona. http://www.myspace.com/northistaken

SHUKOV - One of Vancouver's most promising new bands, Shukov brings their spacious, tension-filled, darkly ethereal art rock to enthusiastic audiences around the Lower Mainland in preparation for their forthcoming CD. http://www.shukov.com

Hinterland (dreampop)

Vancouver’s Hinterland has been carving its own niche in the musical landscape since its formation in 2000. Hinterland’s atmospheric sound is based in rock ’n’ roll, but the quintet’s shimmering wall of sound is made unique by the inclusion of a few decidedly non-standard elements. Hinterland’s unique instrumentation includes the flute ... more info

windows78 (Space Rock)

In came a new kind of sound. A new style that is neither totally new nor super stylish, but a fresh and listenable sound nonetheless. Perhaps a soundscape for the robots on Mars. Perhaps a hallucinatory trip through the phones. Perhaps four fellas and four middle names all the same. Retro electronica and laptop beats. Guitars that swoon, sweep and ... more info

Shukov

Shukov began in a bedroom during the winter of 2004. Leigh Denholm holed himself up and slowly began experimenting and writing songs. After growing frustrated with attempts to form a band to play these new creations, he opted to go into the studio and craft his songs, and worry about who would play them later. Hejira drummer Tim Rich was entrust... more info
