Thursday, January 12th, at 8 pm, the new location of everyone's favourite anarchist bookstore, Spartacus Books (spartacusbooks.org, back from the dead upstairs at 319 West Hastings), plays new host to installment #31 of Jim Munroe's brainchild, the PERPETUAL MOTION ROADSHOW! (nomediakings.net) This monthly indy press tour circuit brings writers and performers from all over North America promoting new work up and down both coasts, in a different city every night, under one uncompromising mandate: NO BORING READINGS!

This month boasts an entirely Canadian slate: nomadic roots songwriting adventurer CORT BULLOCH (Calgary, cortmusic.com), poetry slam emcee DANE JAH RAS (Toronto, danejahras.com) and emo poet of extremes SABRINA LIGHTSTONE (Toronto). Primary Toquefest engineer BIRDBAND (Vancouver, birdband.org) opens, taking you on a terrifying journey through an electric guitar effect pedal vortex.

BIRDBAND

birdband is a musical mule: a cross between sample-based and improvisational music. With the use of unaffected guitar, a vocal mic and a sampler; compositions are conceived in a live setting and once performed, exists as they are. Birdband consists of at least one member; Justin Adam. more info
