FOO FIGHTERS GET SET TO PERFORM LIVE

IN VANCOUVER IN EARLY AUGUST

The Foo Fighters may be one of the most unlikeliest rock 'n' roll success stories ever. Imagine: drummer for the biggest rock band in the world goes on to form another group that, with every record, gets better and bigger.

No one would have predicted, with the demise of Nirvana, that Dave Grohl would go on to become frontman of one of the most respected post-punk bands in America. But that's exactly what happened, and with the release of the Foo Fighters' fifth record In Your Honor the quartet has achieved an almost unparalleled marriage of hard-rock energy and sublime balladry.

In Your Honor separates the band's sides on two separate discs, with crackling, melodic rockers like "No Way Back" and "Best of You" filling one and subtle, melancholy acoustic tracks taking up the other. The ambitiousness of the project has paid off with arguably the best record of the band's career. This album is one that once and for all establishes the Foo Fighters as one of the best rock groups of the decade, and one that always delivers 100 per cent in its jaw-dropping live performances.

Don't miss the Foo Fighters live at the Pacific Coliseum on Friday, August 5th with special guests.

Foo Fighters

The Foo Fighters have always been capable of both balls-out aggression and lady-killing melodic tendencies, and nowhere is this more apparent than on In Your Honor. For their fifth album in a decade, frontman Dave Grohl and company decided to split the difference by ignoring the middle ground and recording a double-disc—one CD is the heaviest, mo... more info

Sloan

Sloan was one of the most successful Canadian bands of the '90s, which was both a blessing and a curse. While they were well-known in their homeland, where their Beatlesque power pop became a radio staple, they had a difficult time breaking into the American market, especially after their label, DGC, decided not to market their hooky pop in the wak... more info

The Constantines

The Constantines are the children of Fugazi, stepbrothers to Make-Up and Trail of Dead, the grand-kids of Springsteen and Strummer. They call what they do soul music, not because of what it sounds like, but where it hits you. They haven't just inherited the styles of their ancestors, but the wisdom as well. Their Fugazi fandom, for instance, focuse... more info
