Late show: Real Ponchos Tour Send-off Show, with The Modelos, and Dylan Stone
Doors: 8:30 pm. $8
After a winter hiatus, Real Ponchos are back in town. But not for long - they’re getting ready to hit the road for a BC/Alberta tour in June. Everybody knows that you’ve got to whoop it up on your last night in town before a journey – who knows when you’ll get another chance out on that dusty road? With this in mind, Real Ponchos are hosting a barnburner on May 30 at the Railway Club. The Modelos, Vancouver’s surf twang desperados, and Victoria’s finest country singer-songwriter, Dylan Stone, will also be playing. Don’t miss this one folks!
Like a pot of beans simmering over a campfire on the lonesome high plains, Real Ponchos’ music has a deep, soulful and honest groove. That’s not to say that after a few good bottles, you won’t find these boys in the saddle commanding a roaring dance floor with high energy alt-country stompers and transcendental jams. The Real Ponchos blend country, roots rock and jam band influences to deliver tried and true tunes that won’t let you down.
The Modelos are Vancouvers Rock 'n' Roll Cowboy Surfers. The group has a unique style that mixes surf-instrumentals with an alternative country sound. The Modelos showcase some of Vancouver's finest roots musicians. Joey and Mikey Modelo are guitar-slingers from East Van's infamous rockers, The Bughouse 5 (Mikey is also the Vancouver Canucks organist!) while Geoffrey Modelo is Colin James touring drummer and Bradley Modelo has lent his bottom to everyone from Lily Frost to Econoline Crush.
For over a decade Dylan has been writing and performing songs as a solo artist and in a range of different musical groups. At 27 he's a mature and reflective songwriter. He currently performs with The Dylan Stone Band. His music was featured at the Victoria Folk Club in the summer of 2012. His first release, Stoned, was recorded with Marc L'Esperance and Adrian Dolan.
Early show: PuddleCity presents!
6:30PM - 8:30PM Admission: FREE
