Jenny Berkel , Hannah Epperson, The Never Surprise

Sun. November 13th 2011 8:30 Railway Club (No Minors) 8:30
$7 at the door only.
Jenny Berkel’s deep, resonant voice and truly poetic lyrics have been garnering fans ever since she started performing with her guitar three years ago. In that time, she has played with bands The Wandering Goose and Lady o’Lakes, toured across Canada, busked on the streets of Paris and Belfast, and been nominated for two music awards. Last summer she released her first solo recording, Gather your Bones. Jenny’s songs are both haunting and starkly honest, drawing their substance from personal experience and collective history, free of the all-too-easy cliché of folk lyrics. Her voice is also unique—deep and smoky, broad as the Manitoba prairie where she now lives.
Jenny is currently touring in support of her second release, Here on a Wire – another collection of arresting folk songs.

Hannah Epperson - With loop pedal, fiddle and voice, Hannah Epperson creates intricate and moving musical landscapes. Hannah's collaborative history has included many politically and socially charged mixed-media explorations; as an all new and dewy solo artist, she has an ability to leave you entranced and surely in want of more.
