. Saturday, May 19th IMU presents PEPPER SANDS CD Release Party with special guests The TOP DRAWERS, The CAPITALS & DANNY ECHO @ The RAILWAY CLUB, 579 Dunsmuir Street . Doors 9pm / $10

PEPPER SANDS have always managed to present their own world of atmospheric, compelling sounds with a passionate approach. Having opened for 54-40, Sleater-Kinney and Matthew Good, the Vancouver quartet comes charging out of the gate with hyperactive tunes, staccato pop bursts and plenty of amped-up frustration. Citizen A's magnetic stage presence demands attention as she weaves an electric, connected web of melody and prose. Guitar giant Jay Slye is well armed to dole out aggressive riffs and ringing tones, sometimes drilling choruses and other times melting phrases with expert ease. Don't miss their exciting next chapter of sound! http://www.peppersands.com

TOP DRAWERS - This nitty gritty garage rock band features Eric Lefebvre from the Beatles Tribute Twist & Shout, Patrick Jacobson from the Capitals, Marla Mcqueen from Black Eyed Blonde and Del Cowsill from the infamous Cowsill's. Influenced by all those great 60's Nuggets from the UK and US, their in your face raw edgy rock'n'roll is guaranteed to groove and shake your ass! http://www.myspace.com/thetopdrawers

The CAPITALS - Charged with memorable guitar riffs and eloquent harmonies, The Capitals are one of the most exciting new rock bands to emerge from Vancouver. Passionate live shows and a stunning debut album have quickly garnered praise from press and radio for their sugar-coated power pop, earning them a loyal following. "Fat and thick, the guitar is upfront as The Capitals make a joyful noise." - The Province http://www.myspace.com/capitals

DANNY ECHO - As a boy, Danny Echo longed to be in front of an audience playing his tennis racquet. He later discovered an electric guitar, amplifier and band are more effective at getting people's attention. After touring the UK with their previous band The Ryecatchers, Dan and Mark decided not only to keep the fire burning but to stoke it with the energy and excitement that all fans of great rock and roll embrace. Their British-inspired melodic rock is informed by a wide range of music including the Rolling Stones, Beck, Dandy Warhols, The Beatles, Radiohead and The Kinks. http://www.myspace.com/dannyecho

The TOP DRAWERS are right up the alley of anyone who's a fan of edgy, bluesy British Invasion bands like The Yardbirds, Pretty Things and Rolling Stones.
