Join Vancouver's own YOKO CASIONOS along with Submerged Records showcase featuring WINDOWS '78, HINTERLAND & STRIDE ELEMENTARY this special evening! "Submerged Records offers further proof that the city's independent music scene is healthier than ever" - Nerve Magazine. Submerged specializes in dreampop, space rock, shoegaze and indie-rock sounds with a roster that includes Hinterland, Windows '78, and Edmonton-based Storyboard.

YOKO CASIONOS have been hooking the hearts of music fans with their explosive melodies, adrenaline-fueled live shows, and pure, bare-it-all honesty hailing from a time when music was exciting. A swirling ball of urgency, The Yokos put the 'harm' in 3-part harmony and the 'hit' back in sh*t-hot. Instruments and vocal duties are traded with wild abandon, the beats induce dancing and the songs will leave you singing. Bound for life, the Yoko Casionos fight the good fight to bring truth and integrity back to pop music.

HINTERLAND has been carving their own niche in the musical landscape with heavenly vocals and cascading walls of star-gazing guitar rock. Be sure to catch the band as they play fan favourites while offering up great new songs from their forthcoming CD, currently under production with Caleb Stull of the Parlour Steps. Building on the richly evocative sound they established with their widely acclaimed atmospheric debut "Under the Waterline" and its follow up "The Picture Plane", the heavy bits are punchier, the hooks are sharper, and the ambient passages are dreamier.

WINDOWS '78 dynamically explore a unique fusion of moody, guitar-driven rock and ambient electronica, delivering an innovative sound that appeals equally to humans, Martians and robots. Described as "somewhere between Spiritualized and Pink Floyd" (The Province) and "a new successor to the mantle of melancholy modern rock" (Prairie Dog), their CD "The Window Seat" showcases the premier space rock act as they craft a rich, evocative sound that weaves together melodic guitar lines, subtly deployed electronic loops and masterful playing.

STRIDE ELEMENTARY began life as a way for Glenn Gillis and Greg Williams to compose music and record songs at each other's homes. After being recruited by Vancouver's Solarists, Greg went on to join Hinterland while Glenn continued songwriting. Adding Michael Nathanson (Windows '78) and Kevin Titcomb, their unique sounds are not to be missed!

Yoko Casionos

The Yoko Casionos are one of Vancouver's most cherished bands. Opening gigs for local staples such as Copyright and national indie icons like The Flashing Lights have won them a cult-like following of fiercely loyal and dependable fans. Their music is accessible but holds a sway of artistic integrity not associated with bands that have potential ma... more info

Hinterland (dreampop)

Vancouver’s Hinterland has been carving its own niche in the musical landscape since its formation in 2000. Hinterland’s atmospheric sound is based in rock ’n’ roll, but the quintet’s shimmering wall of sound is made unique by the inclusion of a few decidedly non-standard elements. Hinterland’s unique instrumentation includes the flute ... more info

windows78 (Space Rock)

In came a new kind of sound. A new style that is neither totally new nor super stylish, but a fresh and listenable sound nonetheless. Perhaps a soundscape for the robots on Mars. Perhaps a hallucinatory trip through the phones. Perhaps four fellas and four middle names all the same. Retro electronica and laptop beats. Guitars that swoon, sweep and ... more info
